Hi……….
I’m Kiriana. After a career in healthcare, where my focus was on the physical health of my clients, I am now following my deep passion for supporting mental wellbeing.
After completing my Bachelor of Science (Nursing), I worked as a Registered Nurse both in acute hospital settings and in the community in Australia and Canada. After taking some time off to raise my family, in which I also completed my Personal Training certification, I returned to study and completed my Master of Counselling. I am a Level 2 member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) which requires me to adhere to their Code of Ethics and Practice. This means that I am committed to providing a safe, professional and ethical service to all of my clients.
I am a firm believer that we all have the capacity to make change in order to experience our most fulfilled lives. It is my greatest honour to walk alongside others to guide them as they make this realisation. Using evidence-based, person-centered approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and mindfulness techniques, I work collaboratively with you to find sustainable ways of building strong mental health and emotional resilience.
I have a particular interest in supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, navigating life transitions and strengthening self-worth. I am also deeply passionate about working with women through the challenges of perimenopause and menopause, as well as with veterans and their loved ones as they adjust to significant personal and lifestyle changes.
Due to my current scope of practice, please be aware that I am NOT able to provide counselling services for the following:
families or couples counselling
severe/ complex mental health conditions
clients under the age of 18
emergency/ urgent support
If at any time I feel your needs would be better supported by another professional, I’ll talk with you about this and help you connect with someone who is the right fit. My goal is to ensure that you always receive the best possible care.
Qualifications

Why Aroha Counselling?
It is an homage to my Māori heritage. In its simplest translation, aroha means love. On a deeper level, it is not so much a word, but a concept. A deeply felt emotion and way of thinking that embraces not only love but empathy, sympathy, compassion and connection. This to me, is the essence of what I do, and I look forward to sharing this journey with you, where we find Empowerment through Connection.
My business logo is a Koru, which symbolises an unfolding fern frond, conveying new beginnings, growth and progress.
